The Buddy Walks was established by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome, the Buddy Walk®, has grown to more than 250 walks each year with at least one in every state across the country and many abroad.

 

Alexander's Angels, Inc. has been the organizer of the Buddy Walk on Long Island since its inception in 2007.
